In 2024, after 14 years out of journalism, Lee joined the Indianapolis Business Journal as a reporter. While he remained at the IBJ only a year, it was an important "going back" period in his  career. He spent more than 18 years in journalism, working as a reporter, editor, copy editor and page designer for the Greensburg Daily News, Muncie Star-Press, Times of Northwest Indiana, San Jose Mercury News and Indianapolis Star... and then the IBJ. While at the IBJ, Lee was part of a gold medal winning reporter team, taking first place in the Alliance of Area Publications' national award for breaking news.
